Simpler Recycling
Is your business ready for the new legislation?
What is Simpler Recycling?
The Simpler Recycling policies announced by the UK Government introduce a series of reforms and changes in the way households and business approach and view the materials they dispose of.
Simpler Recycling will introduce better standardisation of materials collected to increase the amount we all recycle and reduce that which is simply thrown away never to be reused again.
When do businesses need to be ready by?
There are various milestones on the journey to set our nation on the course to a culture of recycling and reuse under the Simpler Recycling programme.
Businesses, schools and hospitals in England, (except micro-businesses with fewer than 10 employees) must implement recycling practises for all recyclable waste streams.
All Businesses (Including micro-businesses) must comply with the new recycling requirements
Landfill Tax
In the Spring 2024 budget announcement, it was announced that landfill tax will increase by over 20% from April 2025. The new Simpler Recycling legislation can help businesses and local authorities manage the volume of waste going to landfill.
