    North Somerset Environment Company Ltd. (NSEC) works in partnership with North Somerset Council and delivers the following services:  

    Ø Collecting recycling and waste from over 100,000 homes and commercial businesses across North Somerset and the wider area

    Ø Managing Household Waste Recycling Centres at Backwell, Portishead and Weston along with two Waste Transfer Stations in Weston.  

    Ø Maintaining 1,100km of North Somerset highways including surface repairs, winter maintenance, gully management, drainage and kerbing repairs, signage and linemarking, and 24/7 emergency response services.

    Ø HGV Driver and mobile plant training, vehicle servicing and maintenance, event cleaning and other environmental and highway maintenance specialisms to commercial businesses

    We are currently seeking talented 7.5T Drivers to join our Waste & Recycling Team collecting from households in North Somerset.

    The ideal candidate will have:  

    ·       Must have a full UK Driving Licence with C1 entitlement.

    ·       Valid CPC.

    ·       Clean driving licence desirable.

    ·       Ability to work in a full time physically demanding role.

    ·       Working Monday to Friday (including Bank Holidays or Saturdays following bank holidays on occasion).

    We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Finance Manager to be part of the company’s leadership team, contribute to the overall aims of the company through the efficient and compliant financial management of financial and business matters.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation in both manual and electronic record systems, and support compliance through account preparation and auditing.

    • Oversee month-end reporting activities, ensuring accurate KPI reporting, and assist in monthly balance sheet reconciliations.

    • Manage payroll activities, including timesheets and agency records, ensuring completion by deadlines, and handle credit control and debt management.

    • Monitor fixed asset expenditures, complete monthly financials, and regularly review and update financial policies in agreement with the F&B Manager.

    • Ensure client invoices are raised monthly, check all Accounts Payable invoices, and review cost centres.

    • Develop process guides for financial activities to support ISO accreditation, conduct variance analysis, and assist in producing monthly accounts and journals.

    The ideal candidate will have:  

    • Professional qualifications from a recognised accountancy body such as CIMA, ACCA or AAT

    • Experienced user of accounting software (specifically Xero) and competent with banking, invoicing, purchase ledger, reconciliations, journals etc

    • Significant experience at a senior level to demonstrate competence in planning, delivering and reviewing annual budget cycles for a multi-site operation

    • Ability to investigate and identify trend, provide commentary and recommendations to monthly management accounts

    You’ll join us as a Recycling Loader whilst you qualify. You will be expected to deliver a first-class service, collecting recycling and waste from the households of North Somerset’s residents, in this customer focussed role - making a real difference to the county and the environment.     We are currently seeking a professional Senior Supervisor to oversee the operation of our Household Waste and Recycling Centres and Waste Transfer Station. Reporting to the Operations Manager-Waste Transfer, you will lead the Supervisor team.

    What you’ll be doing:

    • The position will involve managing five waste facilities in North Somerset including Waste and Recycling transfer facilities and Household Waste Recycling Centres. Reporting the Operations Manager providing updates through KPI and daily reports.

    • Providing support and mentoring to the departments team leaders and staff, identifying new and potential commercial work streams.

    The ideal candidate will have:

    • Current WAMITAB COTC Level 4 Qualified (treatment/transfer) or working towards.

    • Full driving licence (clean preferred).

    • Class 1 or 2 HGV licence (Working towards Class 1).

    • IOSH.

    • Managers CPC.

    An exciting opportunity has arisen at North Somerset Environment Company within our Waste Transfer Station, based at our Depot in Weston-super-Mare. We are looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Driver Operative to join our team at NSEC’s Aisecome Way Depot Waste Transfer Station. The role will cover the balers as well as the mobile plant, including both fixed and mobile plant operation. You’ll work a standard 8-hour shift Monday to Friday between the hours of 08:00 and 16:00, and work on a Bank Holiday weekend.

    We’re particularly keen to hear from those who are ideally be an experienced forklift truck and/or loading shovel operator with a keen eye for safety. The role involves the movement, baling and transfer of recycling materials collected and tipped off by our kerbside recycling/refuse crews. Previous experience with recycling sorting and baling equipment is desirable however full training will be given to the right candidate.
