Mud, Grit & Glory: How 11 of Us Crawled, Climbed and Shivered Our Way to £1,000
NSEC teams rallies together to overcome the Tough Mudder Challenge.
On 20th August 2022, eleven brave souls from NSEC swapped a comfortable Saturday lie-in for mud, ice water and questionable life choices as we took on our very first organised charity event: the 5K Tough Mudder in Gloucestershire.
For many of us, this was well outside our comfort zone, somewhere between “challenging” and “why did we sign up for this?”, but together, we crossed the finish line in just two and a half hours.
There was plenty of pushing, pulling and hauling each other over obstacles, alongside a steady stream of encouragement (and the occasional desperate plea for help). Along the way, team members conquered personal fears including heights, freezing water and the undeniable reality that mud gets absolutely everywhere.
Bruised, soaked and exhausted, every bump, scrape and shiver was worth it.
Most importantly, the team raised over £1,000 for the Marie Curie, a charity chosen by our Managing Director, Brian Veale.
