Fleet Manager (Interim Position)

We are immediately seeking an Interim Fleet Manager for a six-month period working as part of our Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the strategic delivery of our Fleet Department encompassing fleet and driver compliance, vehicle workshop operations, and procurement of vehicles, plant, and equipment. We’re keen to hear from experienced and/or qualified candidates with HGV fleet and compliance management experience (Transport Managers CPC essential), coupled with an engineering background. You’ll take the lead on continuous improvement and sustaining our green-banded operator’s licence.
RoRo Driver - (Fixed Term 10 months)

To ensure the timely collection, transportation, and delivery of waste containers from HWRC sites in compliance with legal, safety, and environmental requirements, supporting the smooth running of recycling centre operations and helping achieve waste management and recycling targets
Key Responsibilities
- Vehicle Operation & Driving
- Safely operate roll-on roll-off vehicles in accordance with company policy, Driver CPC standards, and UK road traffic legislation.
- Perform precise manoeuvres in confined HWRC sites and other operational environments.
- Drive to assigned transfer stations, processing plants, and disposal facilities using the most efficient and compliant routes.
- Load Management
- Collect, transport, and deliver waste containers, ensuring correct placement and secure fastening to prevent movement in transit.
- Adhere to waste segregation protocols, ensuring the correct waste stream is collected and delivered to the appropriate facility.
- Operate vehicle lifting and locking mechanisms safely and efficiently.
- Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance
- Carry out daily vehicle walk-around checks, reporting any defects promptly to the Team Leader or workshop.
- Ensure vehicles are kept clean and roadworthy.
- Maintain accurate tachograph records and comply with Working Time Directive requirements.
- Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Follow all site-specific risk assessments and safe working procedures.
- Wear and maintain PPE in accordance with company requirements.
- Report any near misses, incidents, or hazards to management immediately.
- Communication & Coordination
- Liaise with HWRC staff to plan container exchanges with minimal disruption to site operations.
- Keep in contact with the operations/ team leader to provide progress updates and resolve route or timing issues.
- Work collaboratively with other drivers and staff to maximise operational efficiency.
- Documentation & Record Keeping
- Complete all required delivery, collection, and defect reports accurately and on time.
- Record fuel usage, mileage, and any delays or route deviations.
- Ensure waste transfer notes and other compliance documents are correctly completed.
- Customer Service & Representation
- Interact courteously with members of the public and external partners on or near HWRC sites.
- Uphold the company’s image by maintaining a high standard of personal appearance and behaviour.
- Carry out any other such reasonable job-related tasks as the Company may require you to undertake from time to time
