Fleet Manager ( Interim Position)

We are immediately seeking an Interim Fleet Manager for a six-month period working as part of our Senior Leadership Team, responsible for the strategic delivery of our Fleet Department encompassing fleet and driver compliance, vehicle workshop operations, and procurement of vehicles, plant, and equipment. We’re keen to hear from experienced and/or qualified candidates with HGV fleet and compliance management experience (Transport Managers CPC essential), coupled with an engineering background. You’ll take the lead on continuous improvement and sustaining our green-banded operator’s licence.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsibility for managing the company’s fleet of vehicles, plant and equipment including compliance (vehicle and driver) and maintenance.
- Oversee the company’s commercial vehicle maintenance workshop maintaining both internal and third-party vehicles.
- Be the primary Transport Manager/CPC holder on the company’s Operator’s licence which is in excellent health.
- Provide technical support to the company, ranging from vehicle specifications, managing the vehicle, plant, and equipment profile, identifying alternative vehicle options and asset utilisation and efficiency information.
- Specifying and the procurement of new / replacement fleet including arranging asset disposals
- Constantly review the supply chain to ensure that contractors and suppliers are managed bringing value-added financial performance to the Company including negotiating agreements and service contracts.
- To take budgetary and KPI responsibility for Fleet, providing variance updates to the Board of Directors.
- Work with the operational frontline services to ensure sufficient vehicle, plant, and equipment allocation.
Requirements
- Transport Manager CPC qualification and Operator Licence good repute.
- Experience as a fleet manager in environmental services or logistics.
- Knowledge/qualification/background in HGV vehicle engineering coupled with professional body membership.
- Fleet procurement experience.
- IT literate including advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.
- Ability to build excellent internal and external business relationships with teams and key stakeholders.
