Proud to Support Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day in Weston-super-Mare

North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) is proud to be involved in Weston-super-Mare’s Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day this weekend, celebrating the contribution of serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and emergency responders on the Beach Lawns. The company is also preparing to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, formalising its ongoing commitment to support service men and women who serve our country.

A Day of Celebration and Recognition

The Weston Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day returns to the Beach Lawns on Saturday 20 June 2026, running from 10:00am to 4:00pm as a free, family-friendly event for all ages. The day begins with a parade from the Grand Pier at 10:00am, featuring veterans, cadets, and representatives from the Armed Forces and Emergency Services making their way through the town to the Beach Lawns for the opening ceremony.

The arena will be shared by Armed Forces and Emergency Services displays, offering a full day of activities for all ages and providing an opportunity to show appreciation for local veterans and Armed Forces families. Visitors can expect to find funfair rides, live music, a market, a bar, food stalls and much more. Eat Festivals will provide the very best West Country food and drink producers, with the market celebrating great local producers surrounding Weston-super-Mare.

North Somerset Environment Company’s Commitment

NSEC is proud to be supporting this years event through bin provision and a promotional gazebo present on the day to share information about career opportunities and service provision, represented on the day by Shane Young, Erika Plumridge, Kerry Ellis, Daniel Cooper and Jacob Stallard.

Signing the Armed Forces Covenant

NSEC is also preparing to sign the Armed Forces Covenant, demonstrating a long-term commitment to supporting service men and women, veterans, reservists and military families. The Covenant is a voluntary pledge which organisations may choose to sign up to in order to demonstrate their support for the Armed Forces Community and the principles of the Covenant.

By signing the Armed Forces Covenant, an organisation demonstrates its intention to support the Armed Forces community and provides the signatory with the opportunity to be recognised by the Employer Recognition Scheme award. The Covenant represents a promise by the nation ensuring that those who serve, or have served, and their families are treated fairly.

The key principles of the Covenant are that the Armed Forces community should face no disadvantage compared to other residents in the provision of public and commercial services, and that special consideration is appropriate in some cases, especially for those who have given the most, such as the injured and the bereaved.

Businesses signing the Covenant typically make a range of written and publicised promises to set out their support to members of the Armed Forces community who work in their business or access their products and services. Voluntary pledges of support from businesses typically include policies that encourage Reserve service, support the employment of Veterans and Service spouses or partners, and give the Armed Forces community a fair deal on commercial products and services.

Pride in Community Support

Armed Forces Day is a chance for the whole community to come together in a spirit of unity, respect and gratitude. The Weston-super-Mare celebrations on the Beach Lawns create a fitting setting to honour service, sacrifice and the people who protect and support our communities every day.

By participating in the event and signing the Armed Forces Covenant, NSEC is demonstrating its values of respect, collaboration and integrity towards those who serve. The company believes that those who serve our country deserve recognition, understanding and ongoing support, and that the Armed Forces community should be treated fairly alongside all residents of North Somerset and beyond.

Weston-super-Mare’s Armed Forces and Emergency Services Day promises to be a proud and memorable occasion for the town, celebrating unity between the Armed Forces, emergency services and the local community. NSEC is honoured to play a part in this event and look forward to seeing everyone in attendance.

The event is completely free to attend on Saturday 20 June 2026 at the Beach Lawns, Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, and promises a full day of celebration, entertainment and community spirit for families and visitors of all ages.
