Portishead Carnival & Colour Run

North Somerset Environment Company (NSEC) supporting landmark community events in Portishead.

Portishead Carnival and the Portishead Carnival Colour Run are both rooted in the town’s long-standing community spirit, with the recently re-launched carnival being a landmark local event that has been part of Portishead life for more than a century. Posset Events is the CIC behind the modern carnival programme, helping organise and promote the events while keeping them accessible, community-led and locally focused.

The Colour Run is positioned as a fun, family-friendly addition to Carnival Week, with NSEC providing the waste management support for that activity. The Portishead Carnival itself is broader in scale, with the event programme bringing together a parade, show field activities, community groups, food, music and local traders, reflecting a wider celebration of the town.

NSEC’s involvement fits neatly into that local model because the company offers tailored event support that can scale to suit different needs, from a lighter-touch recycling and waste provision to a fuller event service package. For the Colour Run, that means a focused support role around waste and recycling, while the carnival allows NSEC to bring a broader operational offer, including cleansing and traffic management. That flexibility is especially relevant for community events like these, where each activity has different demands, audience sizes and logistical requirements.
